Mobility in Dystrophy (MIND) Trust is a nascent fellowship of the patients of Muscular Dystrophy (MD) and Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) in Kerala since May 1, 2017. MD and SMA are progressive genetic disorders ie., though the diseases may be localized to one part of the body in the beginning, it gradually spreads to other parts, leading finally to a complete cessation of physical movement.
MIND being an organisation led by persons with Muscular Dystrophy and Spinal Muscular Atrophy can be seen more like a family standing together fighting and setting a model for everyone in the society, clearly saying, Impossible is I’m possible. MIND aims to make an inclusive society where a person with a disability can lead a normal life without being seen as an alien.
Spreading scientific knowledge of MD/SMA conditions and promote inclusive society for persons with disabilities.
Promoting accessible education for children with MD/ SMA conditions and training the adults for equivalency examinations.
Equip every person with Muscular Dystrophy/Spinal Muscular Atrophy for employment and opportunities.
Planning to envisage Oridam, inclusive rehabilitation space for personas with MD/SMA by 2025
providing financial assistance to beneficiaries of the trust as pension and in time of health emergencies.
Muscular Dystrophy /Atrophy is a progressive condition due to which muscles get weaker day by day. Access to infrastructure assistance through wheelchairs can enable them for accessing more opportunities and for self-empowerment.
Project Sneha sammanam providing monthly pensions for persons with MD/SMA who are deprived of means of income. In addition, Sneha sammanam make sure of financial assistance in the time of medical emergencies.
