 Mobility in Dystrophy or Mind is a WhatsApp community formed on July 1, 2016, by four people suffering from muscular dystrophy in Kerala

 The members of the group at the time were gradually adding people with muscular dystrophy and spinal muscular atrophy to their experience. The mental, physical and financial problems experienced by the members were constantly discussed in the group. Through such discussions, we recognized the need to form an organization and bring the problems of the sick to the attention of the government and society. For those who live within the four walls, it was a big challenge to see each other, even those in that group. However, such a strong desire led us to a gathering called ‘Snehasangamam’. Through that gathering, we realized that the solution to our problems is activities that focus on the five goals of awareness, education, employment and rehabilitation research. To that end, it was decided to form an organization and an ad hoc committee was elected that day. The committee proceeded with the registration process of the organization and thus opened an office at Thrissur, Kalettumkara. Registered as a Trust under the name of Mobility in Dystrophy (MinD) at Kallettumkara Sub-Registrar’s Office under Register No. 132/2017.

 The activities of the Mind were started with the primary objective of creating awareness.

 Those who had dropped out of school due to illness were identified and given the necessary assistance to resume it. He started by making paper pens with the aim of earning an income of his own. Attempts were made to reach out to the community through various media outlets about ‘Oridam’, Mind’s rehabilitation project that achieves all goals. Today, ‘Oridam‘ has become the dream and hope of many.

Mind’s activities based on 5 goals are currently progressing nicely back to 15 projects.

 Mind has to some extent been able to convey the severity and severity of these conditions to our society, as well as to the government level, which was largely unaware of diseases such as muscular dystrophy and spinal muscular atrophy.

 People who used to be deeply frustrated and anxious about their own illness are now comforted by putting them all under the umbrella of Mind. Around sixty-five MD and SMA sufferers started this community 4 years ago and today it has more than 540 members. New members are being added.

 It was the support of a lot of goodwill that helped us overcome the crisis from the beginning and move forward. Still moving forward with full confidence that you will have the strong support of each and every one of us.
