“A Space of Happiness" The term “Saphalyam,” meaning “Achievement,” reflects the vision of helping beneficiaries fulfill one of the most important dreams in life—owning a safe and secure home. The project is guided by the tagline “A Space of Happiness,” which emphasizes the importance of providing comfortable and accessible living environments for individuals living with disabilities. Saphalyam is a housing support initiative launched by Mobility in Dystrophy (MIND) Trust implemented in 2020 to assist individuals living with Muscular Dystrophy (MD) and Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) who face housing challenges. For many people within the MIND community, having a safe and accessible home remains a difficult goal due to physical limitations and financial constraints. A home is more than just a place to live—it represents security, dignity, togetherness, and emotional well-being. However, individuals living with MD and SMA often require specially designed living spaces that accommodate mobility needs, including wheelchair accessibility, ramps, and disability-friendly bathrooms. Without such facilities, daily life can become extremely challenging. Through the Saphalyam Project, MIND Trust works toward constructing and improving homes that are designed to meet the specific needs of persons with disabilities. The initiative focuses on building wheelchair-friendly houses and modifying existing homes to include accessibility features such as ramps and accessible toilets, ensuring safer and more comfortable living conditions. By providing safe and accessible homes, the Saphalyam Project contributes significantly to improving the independence, dignity, and mental well-being of beneficiaries. Through continued collaboration with organizations, supporters, and well-wishers, MIND Trust aims to expand this initiative and move closer to its vision of ensuring that every member of the community has a place they can proudly call home. The project includes the construction of one house, along with five accessibility ramps to ensure safe and convenient mobility for persons with disabilities. And one accessible toilet will be constructed to improve sanitation and ensure a more inclusive and disability-friendly living environment.
Mobility in Dystrophy (MIND) Trust was formed in 2017, by us patients suffering from Muscular Dystrophy (MD) & Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). In 2016, we started off as a small Whatsapp group of patients reaching out to each other.
With enthusiastic employees and volunteers, we are ready to support you no matter any time.
