KOOT is the volunteer wing of MIND and a force of students and other young professionals from all over Kerala. KOOT ensures its volunteers an opportunity to bring together people who are often sidelined in society. It conducts various programs for the encouragement of MIND beneficiaries. The support of volunteers creates enthusiasm and happiness among the beneficiaries. KOOT provides care and companionship to people who are isolated in society. Standing as the backbone of MIND, KOOT focuses on understanding the problems of the people, giving them mental strength, and ultimately bringing joy into the lives of MIND beneficiaries.

2019 onwards “MIND, in collaboration with KOOT, successfully organized 20 district-level meetups for beneficiaries, fostering inclusion, interaction, and community engagement. Additionally, two volunteer training camps were conducted to enhance the capacity and effectiveness of KOOT members. The team also actively participated in three CSR functions and organized impactful campaigns such as ‘Stepping Towards Equity,’ ‘Venam Oridam,’ the ‘SMA Awareness Campaign – A Campaign of Love, Hope, and Care,’ ‘Uyaram Oridathilekk’ in 2019, and the ‘Box of Love.’ Notably, the SMA Awareness Campaign reached and engaged around 30 lakh people, spreading a strong message of love, hope, and inclusion across communities.”

Mobility in Dystrophy (MIND) Trust was formed in 2017, by us patients suffering from Muscular Dystrophy (MD) & Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). In 2016, we started off as a small Whatsapp group of patients reaching out to each other.
