Oppam is a project initiated by MIND TRUST to provide steady monthly financial assistance to those in need. The word “oppam” signifies “we are with you.” Many individuals with Muscular Dystrophy and Spinal Muscular Atrophy face various challenges in their lives. To meet their basic needs, they require financial support, yet many lack a proper financial backup due to their physical conditions hindering their ability to secure stable employment. While some beneficiaries have achieved self-employment through MIND Trust, many still lack financial stability.
The Oppam project aims to alleviate the financial limitations faced by these individuals. As part of the project, we have identified needy beneficiaries and potential donors to support our cause. The project started in 2022, and currently, the trust provides an average pension of 18,000 rupees per month to these identified beneficiaries. Presently, we are providing pensions to 6 beneficiaries. This initiative by MIND Trust is truly commendable, as it offers vital support to those experiencing financial crises. The pension amount provided through Oppam is indeed a blessing to them.
Mobility in Dystrophy (MIND) Trust was formed in 2017, by us patients suffering from Muscular Dystrophy (MD) & Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). In 2016, we started off as a small Whatsapp group of patients reaching out to each other.
