I Talk

“speak and inspire” “I Talk” is an innovative initiative by Mobility in Dystrophy (MIND) Trust implemented in 2021 designed to empower individuals living with Muscular Dystrophy (MD) and Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) to overcome communication barriers and express themselves with confidence. The project focuses on unlocking each participant’s potential through structured communication and confidence-building training. Through personalized mentoring, speech development sessions, storytelling workshops, and interactive learning activities, I Talk helps participants strengthen their public speaking abilities. The program encourages individuals to develop their skills as motivational speakers, orators, and storytellers, enabling them to confidently share their ideas, experiences, and perspectives. Beyond speech training, the initiative promotes self-expression, leadership, and social inclusion. It helps participants transform their personal journeys into powerful messages that inspire others and raise awareness about the experiences of individuals living with MD and SMA. So far, six main batches of the I Talk Training Programme have been successfully completed, along with one batch of the I Talk Junior Programme designed specifically for beneficiaries aged 12 to 15 years. In total, 38 participants, including 4 junior participants, have completed the training. The programme has significantly contributed to improving communication skills, self-confidence, and leadership qualities among participants, enabling them to engage more actively with the community and become voices of motivation and change.
