“If There’s A Wheel, There’s A Way.”
Mobility in Dystrophy (MIND) Trust reached the thought of “Sahayathra” with the confidence that it would wipe out the physical and mental challenges faced by the beneficiaries to some extent. The Government and society strive their hardest to bring persons with disability to the forefront, but the weight of the issues that plague them, especially those with Muscular Dystrophy and Spinal Muscular Atrophy, is extremely crushing. They are forced to depend on others, even for their daily chores. The mental, physical and emotional stress they go through can sometimes be unbearable. The best solution that can go a long way in easing the burden is the use of wheelchair.
Sahayathra is an initiative initiated by the MIND Trust, focusing on providing wheelchairs and other assistive devices to enhance the mobility of people diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy and Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Wheelchairs possess a hint of magic, enabling individuals to explore and experience the vast and wonderful world around them. The journey of Sahayathra continues to bring a touch of enchantment to each and every beneficiary of the MIND Trust. We are committed to leaving no stone unturned until we achieve our ultimate goal of ensuring “zero interruption” in their studies or work, and reducing mental stress for those with Muscular Dystrophy or Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
MIND Trust currently provides the following assistive devices to beneficiaries: 128 electronic wheelchairs, 12 manual wheelchairs, 14 commode wheelchairs, 1 walker, 1 coat, 2 patient transfer hoists, and 8 bed recliners. These assistive devices greatly aid individuals in their daily tasks.
Children, adults, and senior citizens with muscular dystrophy (MD) and spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) experience significant relief while using these devices. The availability of electronic wheelchairs enables children to attend school, while women can venture outside, attend meetings, and pursue employment opportunities.
These assistive devices play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with MD and SMA.
Mobility in Dystrophy (MIND) Trust was formed in 2017, by us patients suffering from Muscular Dystrophy (MD) & Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). In 2016, we started off as a small Whatsapp group of patients reaching out to each other.
With enthusiastic employees and volunteers, we are ready to support you no matter any time.
