PRERANA

“We learn, we move forward” The term “Prerana,” meaning “Inspiration,” reflects the vision of encouraging individuals to begin a new educational journey and overcome the challenges associated with living with neuromuscular conditions. The project embodies the motivation and support needed for beneficiaries to pursue education with confidence and determination. Prerana is an education-focused initiative launched by Mobility in Dystrophy (MIND) Trust implemented in 2020 with the goal of improving educational opportunities for individuals living with Muscular Dystrophy (MD) and Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). The project particularly focuses on supporting both children and adults who face barriers in accessing education due to physical limitations, social stigma, or interruptions in their academic journey. Recognizing these challenges, the Prerana Project provides opportunities for continuing education through online tutoring, academic guidance, and skill-building activities. It also supports individuals who may have previously dropped out of the education system, helping them resume and complete their studies. The project is guided by the tagline “Why we learn and we move forward,” which highlights the belief that education is not only about gaining knowledge but also about rebuilding confidence, independence, and dignity in the lives of beneficiaries. So far, 101 students have benefited from Project Prerana. Among them, 74 students have successfully completed their studies, while 27 students are currently continuing their education through the support provided by the project. Through this initiative, Prerana continues to open pathways for learning, growth, and brighter futures for individuals within the MIND community.
