Krishna Kumar is the Vice-Chairman of MinD (Mobility in Dystrophy) Trust, which is a coalition of muscular dystrophy patients, work for the upliftment of differently abled persons. He was diagnosed with a genetic disease Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2 when he was six months old. He experienced the gradual impairment of muscular strength. Now he is 36 years old. His limbs were paralysed. He can only voluntarily use his eyes. He works for inclusion of persons with disabilities in education and environment. He has conducted an Inclusive environment day campaign 'Athijeevana' and Spinal Muscular Dystrophy awareness which got good support from all corners of Kerala. He is a story teller, disability rights activist, social blogger and a good traveller. He conducts motivation speeches in schools and colleges all over Kerala. He also use every opportunity to advocate for the need for an accessible environment. Considering his socially relevant activities and achievements, the Kerala State Youth Commission had honoured him with the State Youth Icon Award of 2018 for social service. He is the winner of Tata Sabal Shining Star Award 2021.
Mobility in Dystrophy (MIND) Trust was formed in 2017, by us patients suffering from Muscular Dystrophy (MD) & Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). In 2016, we started off as a small Whatsapp group of patients reaching out to each other.
