Unarv- Awareness

UNARV

“Be aware, connect with care” The term “Unarv,” meaning “Wake” or “Awareness,” reflects the project’s mission to awaken minds and empower beneficiaries with knowledge about health, rights, and opportunities. The initiative emphasizes the importance of awareness and understanding in improving the lives of individuals living with neuromuscular conditions. Unarv is a project initiated by Mobility in Dystrophy (MIND) Trust in 2020 to address a significant challenge faced by many individuals with Muscular Dystrophy (MD) and Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA)—the lack of adequate understanding about their condition. The project aims to provide education and awareness on these conditions, including their causes, symptoms, management, and available support systems. By increasing awareness and knowledge, the Unarv project works toward improving the overall quality of life of beneficiaries while also helping to reduce stigma and discrimination often associated with these conditions. The initiative encourages informed decision-making, self-advocacy, and better community understanding. Through UNARV, MIND Trust has conducted more than 200 online programs, including webinars, seminars, and awareness classes, along with over 70 offline initiatives aimed at reaching beneficiaries, families, and the wider community. One of the key offline programs organized under this initiative was Stepping Towards Equity, an awareness walk for people living with Muscular Dystrophy, conducted in collaboration with KOOT volunteers and advisory board members under the coordination of Arun Sadasivan. Another major activity under the project is the MIND District Meet-up, which was organized in collaboration with KOOT volunteers to strengthen community engagement, awareness, and interaction among beneficiaries across different districts.

Activities under UNARV include:
