Prerana

PRERANA

Prerana signifies the passion to start a new for its namesake. MIND (Mobility in Dystrophy) Trust launched Project Prerana to focus on the education of children and continuing education of elders with Muscular Dystrophy (MD) and Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). There are several factors inhibiting persons with these conditions to get access to education including societal attitudes, lack of physical accessibility, and challenges in traveling which have led to a larger number of dropouts.

Facilitating access to education and assisting with curricular activities is a prime goal for MIND Trust activities. As part of Prerana, MIND Trust has been conducting online tutoring and tuition classes by MIND Trust members who have done higher studies and assisted MIND Trust beneficiaries who have discontinued their studies to attend equivalency examinations conducted by Kerala Literary Mission. Some of the accomplishments under Project Prerana are:

• Many MIND Trust beneficiaries have successfully clearly equivalency exams conducted By Kerala Literary Mission for classes 4, 7, 10, and 12 with the help of online classes done by MIND Trust members.

• 90 students got benefited from the project last year and this year 46 are getting support from MIND trust under Project Prerana.

• Some of the proud achievements of Prerana are:

o Sheeja Mol- qualified plus two equivalency examinations with good marks and enrolled for higher studies
